I’ve been getting at 4:58 am for a while now. I’ve been doing it for a while now.
I have to tell you, sometimes getting up that early stinks.
Sometimes it’s just unpleasant, especially if I stayed up late the night before.
And yes, I do get up at 4:58 on weekends too. I find it easier as trying to get up at 4:58 on Monday morning if I stayed out too late on the weekend, or slept in, is REALLY painful.
I get up early for a couple reasons.
Time. You’ve heard the early bird gets the worm. Well, I get more done by 9am than a lot of people I know who start work around 9am.
Energy. I’m alert, rested (usually) and working in my quiet home office by 6am. I have tremendous energy and get an incredible amount of work done in the first hours of the day.
Process. I follow the same routine every morning. What I do, when I do it, and don’t have to think too much about it. I have identified the most impactful activities, and set about doing them every day.
Now, imagine this in your business – no, not getting up at 4:58 – but bring a routine to each important area.
Now imagine bringing that consistency to a work routine.
Let’s look at marketing. Imagine if you could bring consistency and routine to marketing, where all you had to do was check in each day, review the same numbers and adjust the “knobs” to your desire.
I did this in a recent campaign. At first it was hard to get started, but with a little repetition, I was able to get that campaign producing better through consistent attention.
It’s what I’d like to talk to you about, setting up recurring systems that remove the struggle and allow you rest assured it’s being looked after.
